Organic pearl spelt from Italian cultivation. The organic pearl core from Alce Nero is grown in Italy. It is ideal for enriching soups and minestrone or for preparing fresh summer salads. Spelt is one of the oldest man-grown cereals whose origins date back to the Fertile Crescent more than 5000 years ago. Pliny the Elder defined it as "the first food of ancient Lazio". Our spelt belongs to the genus Triticum Dicoccum. The morphological properties of this plant make it particularly suitable for cultivation on otherwise unproductive soils: its size guarantees good competitiveness against weeds.
